I weep once for my country and twice for the world at large tonight. I pray that we, as a global community, can survive four more years of this madman.
I found it funny when CNN was giving out statistics and they said that Bush lost the votes from people with College Degrees or more…stupid people. they outnumber the smart.
not to be an overly righteous liberal or whatever you want to call it or label it as, but i think it´s somewhat unfair to equate not having a college degree with stupid. just because one is fortunate enough to have the money to put themselves or their children through college doesn´t make them smart… i question the intelligence of many people at good old kalamazoo college on a daily basis. and i know plenty of people who are not in college or who did not go to college who are plenty smart. umm yes, that´s all i have to say.
That’s true. it was kind of unfair…I wasn’t really equating college with smart though. they were 2 separat trains of thoughts that I put in one post. I know a lot of smart people who don’t go to college. but I’m saying right now in America, I feel there are so many stupid people in this country. or atleast ignorant…so I apologize for not clarifying that comment and making myself look like an Elitist collegeboy..
As they did in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, the Republicans lead us backward through history, using intolerance and fear for political gain. It’s a day to put the flag at half mast. I can’t believe I live in a state that 2 to 1 voted to make America fundamentally less equal than it already was. How can we make people think before they vote? We need to be more vocal and more active in these next four years. We can’t let prejudice and thoughtlessness go unchallenged.
I also weep.
I weep because King George will feel that this re-election is a mandate by the people to continue his hate-mongering, his backward politics, and his moral (read: religious) crusade.
I weep for the possibilities that the next four years bring to our great(?) country and the world.
I weep because out of eleven states, all eleven chose to legalize descrimination on the basis of something just a inherent in a person as race or sex.
I weep because I don’t want to have to move to Canada….
i also am very disappointed, especially in michigan, i did think they would have the intelligence to not take away peoples rights. the amendment made goes against the bill of rights. goes against inalienable rights. it is morally wrong. if it makes you feel any better evan, move to austrailia with me. while i dont want to move, i think i would have ended up in austrailia 20 years from now anyways
